Characteristics[]
The Cathedral Knight Greatsword is essentially a Strength-oriented variant of the Greatsword. It possesses an almost identical moveset, save for a thrusting two-handed strong attack that has good reach and is useful for counter-hits and fighting in corridors where swings may take the wielder off-balance. Its main strength is that it deals Strike damage with its regular attacks, which is poorly resisted by plate metal armor and thus making it strong against players that equip heavy armor to increase their Poise. It also weighs significantly less than the Greatsword, at 15 units, making it easier to fit onto builds that do not heavily invest into Vitality. However, it has a shorter reach than the Greatsword and falls short in Attack Rating, struggling to reach the 600-range without heavy stat investments and infusion with a Heavy Gem.
If one manages to catch another player with the two-handed weak attack, it is possible to chain into the thrust while they are stunned, rather than another weak attack. This can allow players to deal more damage with a two-attack combo.
