Cast Light (照らす光) is a Sorcery in Dark Souls.

In-Game Description

Ancient sorcery of the lost land of Oolacile. Cast a bright light upon surroundings.
This light-producing sorcery is elementary but nonetheless demonstrates the achievements in mysticism of Oolacile. Such magic has not been developed even in Vinheim.

Availability[]

General information[]

Cast Light makes a ball of light appear above the caster's head. It is useful for illumination in the Tomb of the Giants. Outside of this area, Cast Light can be used to dispel certain illusory walls found in Oolacile Township, an area encountered in the Artorias of the Abyss DLC.

Cast Light is one of only three light sources in the game, the others being the Sunlight Maggot headpiece and the Skull Lantern. It requires the most stat investment of the three, but also impacts the player's performance the least, as it only takes up an attunement slot, instead of the head armor or a left hand slot. However, players with insufficient attunement slots or intelligence may prefer to use the Sunlight Maggot instead.

Notes[]

  • The ball of light itself is visible to other players, but the light it casts is not. This is true for all light sources, meaning online play in the Tomb of the Giants may still require all players to have a light source of their own.
