- In legend, this oddly-shaped long sword is said to be forged from the black dragon's tail.
- As it is told, the black dragon lost its tail to a brave warrior in a magnificent battle, and the tail was later used to forge several legendary weapons.

- Has a 1% drop rate from the Dragonfang Villard phantom in the Dragon Shrine. (Not in Scholar Version)

The Black Dragon referred to in the item description could be referring to Black Dragon Kalameet, who can be confronted by the Chosen Undead in Dark Souls when they are pulled back in time by Manus in the Artorias of the Abyss DLC.
