Bashful Ray is a summon found in Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin.
Description[]
He dons the Shadow Set with a Prisoner's Hood and is equipped with the Simpleton's Ring and the Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring. He mostly fights by either dualwielding a pair of Umbral Daggers or a pair of Claws. He often resorts to cast with his Pyromancy Flame when surrounded or against a strong enemy or boss. When not in combat, he'll search his surroundings with the help of Binoculars. He can also use Estus to replenish his health.
Overview[]
Despite his raggedy appearance, Ray has a lot of HP and can easily tank whatever is thrown at him. Regardless of this, he's also skilled at dodging and can heal himself up to a maximum of ten times.
The quick combos he can dish out with his dual weapons will be deadly for most enemies, as they'll end up stunlocked.
Ray's arsenal of pyromancies includes Combustion, Lingering Flame and Firestorm. The latter two in particular are perfect to help the player and himself get out of a situation where they're being overwhelmed by an assault of numerous mobs. Albeit rarely, he may also cast Fire Orb and Great Fireball.
In rare occasions, he'll attempt to aggro distant enemies with Throwing Knifes.
While he possesses high resistance to Poison, he's susceptible to Petrification.
The fact that he's mostly available as a shade can be a double-edged sword: while this means that the player can only reap the benefit of his cooperation for a short period of time, Ray can be used to clean up areas where the boss is already dead to help with strong enemies or invaders, or can be brought to another nearby boss.
Locations[]
He may be summoned at the following locations:
- Huntsman's Copse (as a shade)
His summon sign is found in the cell with the corpse holding a Morning Star. He can be summoned for both the Skeleton Lords and the Executioner's Chariot. His health is 6,900, and 10,074 in NG+
- Earthen Peak (as a shade)
His summon sign is placed in front of the wooden rails that block the path to Gilligan.
- Black Gulch (as a shade)
His summon sign is located between the two Razorback Nightcrawlers.
His summon sign is found inside the room next to Ornifex's house, past the Red Crystal Lizard.
- Drangleic Castle (as a shade)
His summon sign will appear near one of the torch wielding golem, only if the torches of both golems have been lit. He can assist the player against the Dragonriders, Throne Watcher and Throne Defender, Nashandra and Aldia. Furthermore, he can help against the two Pursuers that spawn in the throne room at Bonfire Intensity 2+.
- Dragon Shrine (as a shade)
His summon sign is placed in the area with a wooden chest containing a Titanite Slab (that used to be a Mimic in the base game) before the Warpick wielding Drakekeeper that guards the door to the metal chest containing the Third Dragon Ring. Note that summoning any phantom in the Dragon Shrine will turn all the Dragon Knights hostile.
