The Astora Greatsword is an ultra greatsword in Dark Souls III.
In-Game Description
- This greatsword, bestowed only upon elite knights, is a relic of the ruined land of Astora.
- Designed for a focus on thrust attacks, this sword is hard and sharp, but not unusually heavy.
- Skill: Charge
Hold sword at waist and charge at foe. Use strong attack while charging to extend the length of the charge.
Availability[]
Found in the Cathedral of the Deep.
From the Cleansing Chapel, head toward the graveyard and follow the first pathway on the left. The sword is on a corpse in front of a big tombstone, guarded by a kneeling Reanimated Corpse.
Characteristics[]
The Astora Greatsword is the lightest ultra greatsword obtainable, weighing only 8.0 units and scaling primarily with Dexterity. It is still very much capable of staggering and stun-locking opponents easily despite the low weight, but the damage it deals will not be nearly as lethal as the notably heavier ultra greatswords without heavy investment in Dexterity.
As the description implies, this weapon excels at performing lethal thrust attacks, and more so well-timed counterattacks. The Leo Ring is, for this reason, a natural complement to the weapon's moveset, turning the already-powerful thrust attacks into a force to be reckoned with. Further complementing this is the fact that it utilizes the "Charge" skill, which is typically found on spears and pikes.
The Astora Greatsword is one of the most powerful Dexterity-focused weapons in the game. Utilizing the Sharp infusion, it is capable of reaching damage numbers rivaling or even surpassing that of Strength-oriented ultra greatswords at very high levels of Dexterity.
