The Arbalest is a crossbow in Dark Souls III.
In-Game Description
- The largest crossbow, and suitably powerful for its size.
- The bow string is made of metal, requiring great strength to fire.
- Skill: Tackle
Lunge into a shoulder tackle, pushing back enemies to create distance.
Availability[]
- Cathedral of the Deep
- Dropped by crossbow-wielding Devouts of the Deep.
- At the very top of the Cathedral that leads into the rafters, after taking an elevator up from the second shortcut, head down a path along the second flying buttress after crossing from the elevator tower. The Arbalest can be found at the end.
Characteristics[]
The largest basic crossbow available, the Arbalest is bulky and requires considerable Strength to wield one-handed. Short of the Avelyn however, it is one of the strongest crossbows that can be used in the midst of combat at lock-on range, dealing very respectable damage with each shot.
Care should be taken when wielding this weapon though, as its weight makes it rather unwieldy in situations where it can be fired one-handed. And in situations where it can be two-handed for longer-ranged precision fire, the stats invested in wielding it could be better put to use firing a bow instead, taking advantage of scaling damage.

Trivia[]
- Despite being named differently, the Arbalest is the variant of the Heavy Crossbow that has appeared in the previous two games, as opposed to the crossbow that carries the name in Dark Souls III.
