I'm trying to make a Darknut from Zelda, and I'm kind of lost on what weapons/armor would be best. Just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts or ideas.
Isshin, no competition. Of course, just my opinion.
I feel atmosphere is one of the most important things in a game, sometimes even above the gameplay itself.
When a game has great gameplay but little to no atmosphere, the entire thing feels flat. Thankfully the Souls series drips with atmosphere, the best examples being Sekiro and Bloodborne.
The Sengoku-era Japanese aesthetic is felt in every detail of Sekiro and the foggy, dark and macabre atmosphere of Bloodborne is felt through the entire game.
For a gimmick fight, he's quite fun.
Bloodborne had that amazing switch from gothic to cosmic horror which definitely makes it, in my opinion, the best second half.
Top from each Soulsborne game:
DS1: Gwyn
DS2: N/A
Bloodborne: Gehrman
DS3: Twin Princes
Sekiro: Isshin (Both ending versions)
Elden Ring: Mohg, Lord of Blood
Bed of Chaos will forever be cemented in my head as the worst boss I've fought in a game ever.
At least with something like Godskin Duo, it's still a fight, not a crappy platform section where if RNG isn't on your side you get swept into a pit before you even think to dodge.
DS1 had a lot of problems, and this witch was definitely a major one that keeps 1 from being my favorite.
1. Bloodborne (10/10)
2. Dark Souls 3 (9/10)
3. Dark Souls (7/10)
4. Dark Souls 2 (3/10)
Not adding Demon's Souls because I haven't played it yet.
O&S are hard but still fair.
Godskin Duo is hard to an almost unfair degree.
Best fight to show off parry god skills next to Champion Gundyr. But all things considered, it's my favorite fight in the base game, with an excellent boss theme to boot.

Hyper armor is better than DS1's easy mode version of poise, this is a hill I am willing to die on.
Broken straight sword if you're a psychopath, any Black Knight weapons if you want to deal heavy damage throughout the entire game.
Hollow's gotta do what a hollow's gotta do.
Personally, to get my Souls fix, I did a lot of honor duels in the champion's arena. When I got bored of that and making new builds, I decided to go for platinuming the game. Now that I've done that, I'm kind of in the state you're in. I might just wait for Elden Ring, or I might try platinuming DS1.
I will never farm silver knights again, that took so much longer than it needed to.
Drop rate's around 1%, but here's a trick for when you farm: Quit out once you get a proof. It seems to reset the drop rate and gives you a higher chance of getting them.
I was able to get 10 in about an hour with that strategy.
IIRC, my first exposure was technically DS3, when I saw the Game Grumps start their let's play of it.
Been a hot second since I've been on PvP, which weapons are considered meta at this point? IIRC, Gundyr's halberd is considered meta.
Sellsword Spinblades.
Black Flame is your best friend for people that get too close.
