Ariamis created the Painted World of Ariamis. That's it. That's the only definite information the game gives us about that character. Nothing much to go off of.
I removed the inline styles from the weapon table templates. Looks like the text is now properly readable on both the light and the dark theme. Unfortunately, the styling for the row-spanned cells looks a bit odd.
In @AndreaPz01 defense, the vast majority of edits to the lore sections seem to be sourced correctly. Overall, I think the lore sections are in a much better shape compared to prior to her edits.
Unfortunately, there are certain statements of facts that turn out to be badly sourced theories on closer inspection. Refer to e.g. this discussion about the origin of the Painter. These statements have references to in-game material, but the references seem to be more like a collection of cherry-picked evidence to support the theory. That's what Wikipedia refers to as "original research", i.e. using a wiki article to come up with new information that's not stated elsewhere. On Wikipedia, original research is prohibited.
Problem is the lack of a wiki policy or community consensus here to resolve lore disputes. This discussion seems to go in the right direction to forming a community consensus. I'd prefer having a linkable policy like "Statements of facts about Dark Souls lore must be literal quotes or paraphrases of canon material (in-game text, dialogue, developer interviews) and must have references to the source material. Original research is strongly disfavored." (For example, on Dark Souls Wiki:Lore or similar.)
EDIT: Compare e.g. https://en.uesp.net/wiki/UESPWiki:Lore#References_in_Lore: "Original research is strongly disfavored in UESP articles. Even if a series of statements can logically be put together to reach a conclusion, that conclusion does not belong on UESP unless it has already been stated elsewhere (in valid source material)."
I don't understand your question. I'm not even sure if it's a question.
Also, this seems to be another Demon's Souls topic. Consider using the Demon's Souls Wiki's discussion board.
Most likely, there are less active players at the higher level ranges (or soul memory ranges for Dark Souls II). So, yes, it will get harder to find other players for co-op and PvP. It's difficult to say for sure though as the exact distribution of active players is unknown.
According to the Demon's Souls Wiki, the Dragon God has the title "Sultan of Chaos". This is based on the description of the Firestorm spell: "A spell mimicking the raw power of the Dragon God, Sultan of Chaos."
I added a reference to the Dragon God page to clarify the same.
Oh hey, looks like Zullie the Witch published this video yesterday, theorizing that the internal name of the Four Kings ("Jareel Demon") might be related to Undead King Jar-Eel somehow. Definitely worth a watch.
In the NpcParams, they are called:
貪食ドラゴン (ID: 526000)
ジャイール・デーモン (ID: 539000)
Not clue how to translate these properly. DeepL spits out "Voracious Dragon" and "Jair Demon".
Also, please don't add those names into the lead section of the respective article pages. Way I see it, the internal names are not canon material as they were never published officially. They may just be placeholder names used by the developers. Putting them into to notes, trivia or infobox fields seems more appropriate.
According to SteamDB, Dark Souls III on PC still has fairly consistent monthly player peak of ~10,000.
Also, there's a community-driven "Return to Lothric" event scheduled for June 13 − June 27. (See for example this Reddit post.)
Just be warned that the Knight's Honor achievement requires that you have all rare weapons on a single character. You need to do 2.5 playthroughs (one only halfway until you get your third Soul of Sif) at a minimum with the same character, unless you have some other player drop you the missing weapons.
It's probably best to just have a look at this achievement guide.
I think there's no need to delete your previous posts right now. But for future use of this discussion board, please consider creating posts with a proper question or topic (for example, "Dark Souls II is a big letdown") and then posting updates as replies in the same thread.
Not really sure either. Having access to 20 flasks early makes the game a bit easier. But then again, if you can reliably pull of the Catacombs Skip, why would you need the game to be easier?
Guess you can pick up the Gravelord Sword on the way down, which is neat weapon to have early on.
The Dark Souls Wiki has a media policy. It tells you what kind of images and videos are allowed: https://darksouls.fandom.com/wiki/Dark_Souls_Wiki:Media_Policy
Of course, copyright laws apply too. But I'm fairly certain that publishing a screenshot of a game or video is considered Fair Use. Just for the record though: I'm not a lawyer and this is not legal advice.
So, for anyone who wants to link a soundtrack video to an article page now, here are the official playlists:
Dark Souls: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDTmKnA-lp49sr9zxX_kmXSWjRZryQH-J&si=Tj_n6uM0uGB4fUnM
Dark Souls 2: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDTmKnA-lp49kTp0DUnTzidCa3Tc9au0O&si=fp7WUD8TPMHAFmqU
Dark Souls 3: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDTmKnA-lp4-P_0pEInB9DMLiWVwpNF0f&si=7DvDlk-kJo6--Gsr
Yeah, copyright violation most likely. Just don't use copyrighted music in YouTube videos.
On a related note, if you see one of those music videos linked on a wiki page, kindly remove the link and delete the video page (or mark it with {{Delete|No longer available.}}).
I'm facing the same issue. Sometimes, the editor doesn't load when attempting to edit pages. What works for me is hitting F5 to refresh the page; usually, this makes the editor appear again.
Hmm, 20ish strength seems decent for that part of the game. Early game, you usually get more damage out of upgrading your weapons compared to increasing your strength. Prioritize getting your preferred weapon to +3 or so and you should be fine.
If you want more tips, consider providing some more context, like what build you are going for, what weapons your are using, what enemies you are struggling with, and maybe your full stat distribution.
Coming from Elden Ring, Dark Souls 2 will feel a bit clunky and dated for sure. Maybe it will grow on you though.
Keep in mind that Dark Souls 2 has a bit of a slow start. Most of the early-game weapons seem underwhelming, healing items are limited, and the combat feels "off" until you raise your agility.
Also, check if you accidentally joined the Company of Champions covenant. Because almost getting one-shotted by non-boss enemies sounds a bit strange.
In terms of content and overall quality, the Ringed City is the clear winner. If you're planning to buy both DLCs eventually, I'd recommend grabbing Ashes of Ariandel first though, and playing them in chronological order. I doubt playing the Ringed City first makes for a great experience, seeing how it concludes the story of Dark Souls.
