Elder Scrolls Wikia uses the same name convention. Honestly, I don't know what other kind of naming convention would work for this kind of situation. How do you differentiate between two weapons with the same exact name in two different games, without using the game's name as the unique identifier?

Dark Souls 3 - Release in Early 2016

So I consistently doubted that this would ever be a real thing, but there's rumors abound, and now IGN has obtained an image for E3 . For me, the shock that this news may actually be legitimate is trumped only by the fact that there seems to be rumors that Miyazaki will actually be directing it this time. I'm honestly not sure what to think about another sequel. If it was just another attempt by the team that made Dark Souls 2, I'd say they're just oversaturating the series. But the idea that Hidetaka Miyazaki may actually be fully involved in the making of this new project has left me uncertain. Anyway, let me know what you guys think. If the rumors turn out to be true, this wikia may have to go through ANOTHER addition.

First, having no memory of the past means nothing. All undead lose their memories eventually, as shown by Lucatiel and most of the merchants you talk with. Second, there is no cannon ending for Dark Souls, as the entire premise of Dark Souls II is that the First Flame has been linked again and again and again in a constant cycle. Whether or not the Chosen Undead took the Link the Fire ending is irrelevant, because someone else would have anyway. So no, it isn't a distinct possibility, since even if the Chosen Undead didn't sacrifice their own life to the First Flame, someone else did, and therefore would have staved off the Curse. You're also talking about a time span of hundreds, maybe thousands of years between Lordran and Drangleic. Meaning the Chosen Undead would have aged and died, assuming they weren't just killed by a Demon, Giant, or some other surviving monstrosity.

Also with leveling, i believe that the emerald herald imbued the linked fires with the power to level the player character, possibly by burning the aged feather, because it can be seen when she levels the player in dark souls 2. Also, i think that shaded woods is the base of darkroot basin. Also, with people saying various reappearances of bosses are impossible because you killed them, Giant lord "died" and was captured and became last giant. feel free to kill this theory, find loopholes, support etc. I'll respond as best as possible. Dark Souls 2 is not a prequel. 1. Gwyn, Nito, the Witch of Izalith were came to be immediately after the First Flame came into existence, as is seen in within the first few minutes of Dark Souls. There are countless references in Dark Souls 2 of these beings existing long BEFORE Dark Souls 2 took place. And no, it is impossible for Drangleic or any of the kingdoms before it to have existed before the First Flame, as the First Flame was quite litterally the source of all souls in the world. Before it, only the eternal dragons, gray crags, and archtrees existed. 2. I don't know why people constantly bring up the possibilty that the Four Kings of New Londo are Vendrick, Sunken King, Iron King, and Ivory King. First off, little to nothing is actually known about the Four Kings as individuals, so drawing comparisons between them is difficult, if not impossible. The fact that they were all "Kings" and that there were four of them is not evidence of anything. 3. The Eagle you refer to does NOT appear in Fire Link and Undead Asylum. It is a crow. Everything you have brought up is a series of "ifs" and supposition. Nothing of what you have listed is actual evidence. And yet there is countless item descriptions and NPC dialouge that references Lordran, the Lords, the First Flame, and the Abyss from Dark Souls all in the past tense.

That has nothing to do with bosses, they nerfed lightning spears a long time ago. Reducing base damage by over half, and casts down to an extremely low amount.

The thing is, despite being looked down on, the "B Team" didn't actually do too bad for a first try. And the relaunch of Dark Souls 2 as Scholar of the First Sin turned out pretty well on PS4. I think it was just the shock of going in expecting something it wasn't (and couldn't have been, considering their lack of experience with the series). They did well with the multiplayer aspects, and there were certainly a lot of neat mechanics and concepts that weren't in the original Dark Souls. I wouldn't mind letting them take a crack at another sequel, assuming they are willing to put a little extra work in on the enemy designs and lore.

It's hard to imagine Dark Souls going on without Miyazaki actually being a part of it, but I would definately like to see another spiritual successor. I liked Bloodborne, but I love the style of Dark Souls far more. I'd definately play a Dark Souls 3, but if such a game is made, then I should hope that they learn from the rather lackluster design of Dark Souls 2, and invest more into enemy and level designs.

Are you playing Scholar of the First Sin? Those stone soldiers don't awaken anymore in SoFS, you'll have to drag one of the Manikins in from the next room.

Don't get me wrong, I like Bloodborne well enough. But the style of gameplay is just far too different for me get invested into. The combat in Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 may be slower by comparison, but that was part of its charm. You had to watch your opponent carefully and be able to adapt to the situation. There was a certain art to it. I don't get that sensation when I play Bloodborne, as I often just finding myself running up to the enemy and mashing R1 as much as possible.

Here's an update to the last comment I made. After some testing, I've confirmed that the bug I mentioned about being able to fight Vendrick early without the need of Giant Souls has been fixed in Scholar of the First Sin. Farming Giant Souls is now the only way to fight him with lowered defenses.

That theory only exists because people think his fashion sense is similar to the outfits of Bloodborne. Logically, it doesn't make any sense at all.

If Marvelous Chester was really from the Bloodborne universe, he would be using a gun and trick weapon. Not a crossbow.

Chester makes clear references to the current events of Oolacile being a known history to him ("Believe it or not, Oolacile has brought the Abyss upon itself. Fooled by that toothy serpent, they upturned the grave of primeval man, and incited his ornery wrath. What could they have been thinking? But to you and I, it's all ancient history."), but we know that Dark Souls and Bloodborne exist in two entirely different realms of existence. He knows too much about the world in order to be from an entirely different one.

Chester was created before Bloodborne was even being actively developed. His style may have inspired the fashion for Bloodborne, or perhaps Chester was inspired by Miyazaki's early ideas for Bloodborne, but Chester existed before Yharnam was even a rough draft.

Additionally, not only is he from the current universe, but the time that he is from is also long before the events of Dark Souls 2. This is proven by the fact that he is able to identify several points of history and key figures (such as the cause of Oolacile's fall, and knowing Knight Artorias) that had been forgotten long before Drangleic was ever built.

To me, a combination of Agility and Vitality are the most important stats in the game. Agility determines the maximization of i-frames you can get, and at 120 Agility, you can litterally roll through any attack in the game. However, testing has also shown that having lower equipment loads also further increases the amount of i-frames (obviously fat rolling severely reduces i-frames regardless of agility). To me, fights in Dark Souls and Dark Souls II will always be a matter of skill. If you're taking any damage at all at any point, then you've made a mistake. You always have oppurtunities to mitigate damage completely, and more i-frames increases the window of oppurtunity. I once dueled a Rank 3 Brotherhood of Blood player who was as overpowered as you can get. Full Havel set, Gower's Ring of Protection, and enough healing miracles to put Licia out of business. I was using an Estoc during the fight and was doing maybe only 150-200 damage per attack (he easily had over 2000 HP). Our fight lasted over 10 minutes, and he was no closer to dying than he was at the beginning of it. 2-3 of his hits would've easily killed me (I think he had a fully upgraded Gyrm hammer), but my use of i-frames insured that he rarely ever touched me. In the end, I won the duel but not because I had killed him. He had gotten so tired of never being able to hit me, that he'd given up and left. I think it was the first time he'd ever lost in a long time. Of course, I learned something from that duel, and now I keep a supply of poison and bleed weaponry in my inventory just to deal with such players.

This is exactly the problem that is occuring. Attempting to fight Vendrick without Giant Souls will have you doing so little damage, that he won't even appropriately aggro into combat. That said, engaging Vendrick immediately after killing Velstadt (meaning not leaving the Undead Crypt or reseting at a bonfire) can cause Vendrick to have reduced defenses as if you possessed all 5 Giant Souls. If you die or zone out for any reason, his defenses return to normal scaling levels (Note: I have only had this work on PS3 version of the game, I cannot confirm that it was carried over to Scholar of the First Sin).

I only worry about resistances on shields, while armor I build for pure aesthetics. The only situations in which armor matter are if you are taking hits, and considering the ability to parry most physical attacks form players, the existence of i-frames, and the predictability of attacks from bosses and enemies (in my honest opinion) if you are getting hit at all, by ANYTHING, then you're effectively failing to take advantage of an oppurtunity to have taken no damage at all. To me, armor isn't a solution to a problem, it's a salve to lessen the sting of failing. The only exception to this rule, would be the existence of poise, in which the intention is to allow yourself to be hit so that you can trade off a stronger attack. However, even this I don't look at as a valid strategy. If the opponent is allowing you to trade, and they're taking the worst of it, then they are failing to adapt to the situation. My philosphy on combat, has always been that the winner should be the one with a better sense of timing, foresight, and strategy, than who has the biggest weapons and the thickest armor.
